 The ruins of Karpien Castle

The ruins of Karpien Castle on top of Karpiak Mountain (758 m). In the 14th and 15th century Karpien was the central town of a minor state covering the area of the upper valley of the Biala Ladecka River and its tributaries above Radochowo. The castle protected the nearby Karpowska Mountain Pass – part of the salt merchants’ route. The castle was destroyed during the Hussite Wars and became the seat of a band of thieving knights.

In the 16th century, stone from the castle was used to construct the oldest treatment establishment in the town "Jerzy".
