  The ruins of Karpien Castle

The ruins of Karpień castle on top of KarpiakMountain(758 m). In the 14th and 15th century Karpień was the central town of a minor state covering the area of the upper valley of the Biała Lądecka River and its tributaries above Radochowo. The castle protected the nearby Karpowska Mountain Pass – part of the salt merchants’ route. The castle was destroyed during the Hussite Wars and became the seat of a band of thieving knights. In the 16th century, stone from the castle was used to construct the oldest treatment establishment in the town, "Jerzy".

Approach:From Lądek via the blue trail and the red trail; from Rozdroże Zamkowe via the blue trail and the green trail; time: approx. 2 hours 15 min.
